Tapestry Folkdance Center creates opportunities for participation in the joys of dance and music from around the world. You’ll love dancing at Tapestry! No partner is needed to dance in this safe, family friendly, alcohol-free environment. Our facility is accessible to those with disabilities. For most classes, no experience is necessary and beginners are welcome! You can pay at the door: no pre-registration required (unless specified otherwise for special events).

Light Up the Night!!  Tuesday, December 19, 2017 7:30-9:30 pm
Come celebrate the season by learning social dances that celebrate winter holidays from a variety of cultures, including Winter Solstice, Diwali, Hanukkah, New Year and Christmas. This holiday season, discover a world of music and ance beyond the shopping-mall standards.

Caren Grantz Keljik will teach Dandiya Raas (India), Kunghsi-Ni (China), Lo Ahavti Dai (Israel) Tanko Bushi (Japan) and Ambee Dageets (Armenia), and more. We will also learn a set dance to a medley of traditional Christmas music.
No partner needed, no experience necessary. Everyone is welcome at this alcohol-free event. Ages 8 years and up.
$5 individual/$10 family

Christmas Eve Mostly Waltz Afternoon  Sunday December 24th 3:30- 6:00 pm.

New  Year’s Eve Extravaganza at Tapestry!
Contra Dance (8:30-12:12am) with live music by Flour City Doughboys; Beau Farmer, caller.  Large studio.
and
English Country Dance 7 – 9 pm                                    Transition to IFD 9 – 9:15 pm
and
International Folkdance (9-12:15am) with MC’s Ed Stern and Mark Kanazawa, in the small studio.
Ring in the New Year at 11:50: The two groups will gather together in the large studio to sing in the New Year, enjoy a waltz and a Swedish Langdans before heading home.
Admission is $15 general; $12 for members for both dances. If you only attend International Folkdance, then the cost is $8 general, $6 members, $5 students. No passes.

Prepaid Dance Cards!

You’ve been asking for dance cards and now Tapestry is pleased to be able to say, “We’ve got them!” You can purchase a refillable dance card for $50 (cash, check or credit card) from a Tapestry admissions volunteer. The dance card can be used at any Tapestry-sponsored event (not a rental dance program). Learn more about our prepaid dance cards.
