International Folkdance Weekend – Sept 30 to Oct 2
Each fall, Tapestry brings a guest master teacher to the Twin Cities for a full weekend of dance workshops, live music and cultural talks. The Fall International Weekend typically focuses on dance from a single country and attracts dancers from across the nation. Everyone is welcome, but experience with International folkdance is highly encouraged. Pre-registration is NOT required.
This year’s workshop features Miroslav Bata Marčetić, formerly a leading performer, soloist and choreographer for more than 17 years with the Serbian National Folk Ensemble “Kolo” in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro.
Saturday night features a dance party with live music by Orkestar Sloboda, a band based in the Serbian community of Milwaukee, WI that has been entertaining dancers in the Midwest for over 20 years. They will be performing a wide repertoire of Serbian and international songs that are both exciting and soulful. Help us welcome the band on their first visit to Tapestry Folkdance Center.
