February is for Beginners … and Dance Lovers!
Learn Hambo – February 6
The Hambo is a 3-count dance that originated in Sweden. It is a popular dance during the break at contra dances and at Nordic dances. No experience necessary
When: February 6, 6:30-7:30 pm
Cost: $5 for Hambo lesson; $12 Hambo + Contra (nonmembers),
$10 Hambo + Contra (members)
Scottish Country Dance Mini-Course
The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) Twin Cities Branch is offering a 4-week mini-course on Scottish country dancing, the traditional ballroom dancing of Scotland. You will be introduced to the basic steps and formations used in Scottish country dancing and learn a number of easy and “classic” dances. No prior dance experience is needed. You do not need to bring a partner. Attendance at all four weeks is strongly recommended. Learn more.
When: 4 Monday nights, Feb 1-22, 7:30 pm
Cost: $12 ($10 for Tapestry members) for all 4 sessions or $3 each. Fees can be paid on the first night.
Intro to International Dance (and Bring a Friend Night) – February 19
Curious about International Folkdance? Already love it, but would like to introduce it to a friend? Tapestry will be hosting an Introduction to Folkdance class specifically designed for newcomers. Ed Stern and Caren Grantz Keljik will teach dances from all over the world.
When: February 19, 7:30-9:00
