New Executive Director
We are delighted to inform you that we have selected Christy Spillman George as Tapestry’s new Executive Director. Christy will officially join us on February 1, overlapping with Mary Cummings, our ED for the past five years, for the month of February.
Christy brings to Tapestry over fifteen years in experience in both the corporate travel and the higher education fields, with seven of those years working for Capella University in their Academic Accreditation department. Christy has received her Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management, and currently holds the position of Office and Tour Manager of Katha Dance Theatre, a renowned 30 year old North Indian dance company and school.
Christy boasts a great passion for dance and the arts. She is herself a dancer, in both Kathak and Bharatanatyam, which are two classical dance formats from India. She is no stranger to Tapestry, as she has also performed with our own Bollywood Dance Scene in two of their sell-out Fringe performances.
Christy has expressed a personal dedication to promoting the accessibility of authentic cultural dance to her community, and is honored to have been selected for this role. She is eager to get started learning about our various programs and community initiatives and meeting the many people who help make our organization so meaningful.
Join Tapestry Folkdance Center’s staff and Board in welcoming Christy Spillman George to our organization. We look forward to introducing her to each one of you over the coming months.

We are confident that Christy’s experience, knowledge, and integrity are a great match for the organization and will continue to advance Tapestry’s mission in our local community.
