Open Staff Position at Tapestry

Tapestry Folkdance Center seeks a Marketing Assistant/Rental Mgr (15 hours/week):

Located in the Longfellow neighborhood of South Minneapolis, Tapestry Folkdance Center is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to providing opportunities to participate in dance and music from around the world in a family-friendly, alcohol-free environment.

About the Position:

Title: Marketing Assistant & Rental Mgr
Responsible to: Executive Director
Hours, Schedule and Payment:
15 hours per week, hours arranged with executive director; daytime hours with occasional evening or weekend meeting or event. $16/hour

Position Description

MARKETING

– Work with marketing committee to develop marketing and outreach ideas
– Maintain website and web calendar, update at least weekly
– Use social media, including Facebook, to create “buzz” and engage dance communities
– Generate and post Tapestry photos and video clips to website and You Tube channel
– Develop a bank of visual images and videos to utilize in marketing (ensuring proper permissions)
– Prepare weekly electronic newsletter and maintain mailing lists
– Produce press releases, articles, flyers, brochures, and ads (electronic and print)
– Contact news organizations with story ideas
– Suggest community outreach activities and occasionally table at community events

FACILITIES

– Manage rental contracts, scheduling and coordination of studio space
– Manage security needs and invoicing of renters
– Provide facility orientation to new renters and ensure ongoing communications between facilities committee and renter and dance groups regarding facilities maintenance and usage

OFFICE DUTIES
– Troubleshoot office technical systems and equipment
– Answer phones, respond to office email and related routine tasks

Skills and Experience:

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
– WordPress website experience (CSS a plus)
– Social media experience (particularly Facebook)
– Photoshop and InDesign experience
– VERY detail oriented, well organized, able to both initiate and follow through with tasks with little supervision
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Comfortable working with the public
– Interest in, and passion for, Tapestry’s mission (familiarity with folkdance desirable but not essential)
