Tapestry Retreat planning
Time will be divided between 2 sections.:
- Board members and interested members of various dance communities;
- Board members only.
A short discussion ensued to discuss the scenario of only a few others attending. We can all encourage others/invite others personally to attend the retreat.
The groups will be charged with the task to discuss and make proposal/recommendations to be considered and possibly implemented by the staff and/or board, as well as applicable committees or volunteers.
The first part will consist of guided discussions of individual groups. Size and make up and topic will depend on the number of attendees.
Sample of topics offered for the first part:
- Attracting new members
- Attracting young people
- Fundraising events
- Addressing issues associated with aging or injured dancers
- Behavioral/etiquette aspects of dancing
Facilitators will guide discussions based on worksheet prepared in advance. Results of the discussions will be shared in the larger group. Mary will collect and summarize worksheets.
2nd part agenda will include
- a discussion about staffing
- feedback received from all dance communities regarding dance norms, etiquette and how to best address inappropriate behavior.
Barbara and David will act as Facilitators for the Board discussion.
Sustaining membership drive/fundraising (Carole):
The new sustaining membership category has been announce, however we have not exhausted our ways to promote it. We should also better promote a donation campaign in conjunction with a matching donation of up to $9000. A letter to the dance community is forthcoming, promoting both donation categories.
Donor appreciation event:
Carole and Tuvia, on behalf of the entire Board and the Executive Director, hosted a donor appreciation afternoon on Sunday. 23-30 donors who had donated $200 or greater to Tapestry attended. The event was very well received and attendees enjoyed the company/party. Marc suggested to include more board members for future events so that we can listen, state appreciation and build community.
