What is Line Dancing?

Join us for the next 3rd Friday Line Dance Party! Line dancing is thriving all over the world and it’s not just for country music any more. Line dancing is great, low impact exercise for all ages. Beginner lessons are 7 – 7:45 (and intermediate 7:45 – 8:15.) Seasoned dancers will coach beginners throughout the night and there will be split floor to accommodate both new dancers and seasoned so that everyone has fun.

Teacher: Judy Procai

Like many other dancers, I grew up with the Waltz, Polka, and East Coast Swing dances. I didn’t appreciate Country music until the 2003 when I discovered Country 2-Step and West Coast Swing. These dances are fun, but there always seemed to be a shortage of dance partners. One evening I sat out a partner dance and watched a group of people dancing in a line formation and having a great time without partners…this was my introduction to line dancing. I started taking lessons and going to local line dance workshops and international workshops in Chicago, Florida, and Las Vegas. In the Fall of 2012, I went on a line dance cruise in the Greek Islands. I really enjoy international line dances because I can dance anywhere in the world and everyone knows the same dances. I can dance the Waltz, Cha-Cha, Charleston, Night Club -2-step, Mambo, Rumba, Salsa, Tango, and Country 2-Step in a line dance formation without a partner.

For the past four years, I have been teaching singles and married dancers with and without partners and group events. I research the current worldwide dances to teach pop, contemporary, and country line dances to beginner and intermediate dancers.

Line dancing is good exercise, it’s a fun activity, and dancers can develop meaningful friendships with other dancers who share the same passion for line dancing.

The only advice I have for new line dancers is to not give up if music and dance are something you really enjoy!!!

– Have Fun
– Wear Comfortable Leather or suede bottom shoes
– No Partner Required
