Join Tapestry Folk Dancers for the 2016 Fall International Weekend, September 30-October 2 with Miroslav Bata Marčetić
Each fall, Tapestry brings a guest master teacher to the Twin Cities for a full weekend of dance workshops, live music and cultural talks. The Fall International Weekend typically focuses on dance from a single country and attracts dancers from across the nation. Everyone is welcome, but experience with International folkdance is highly encouraged.
About Miroslav Bata Marčetić
Miroslav Bata Marčetić, formerly a leading performer, soloist and choreographer for more than 17 years with the Serbian National Folk Ensemble “Kolo” in Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro.
Bata has taught workshops on Serbian and Eastern European dance in the former Yugoslavia, Japan, Israel, Canada and the United States. Since moving to Toronto, Canada (his current home), Bata has worked with both the international and the Serbian folk dance communities. In 2004, he established his own school of dance, the “Academy of Serbian Folk Dancing.” The school includes more than 300 dancer of all ages. Bata has devoted his entire professional career to the preservation and perpetuation of folklore and dance.
About the Band
Orkestar Sloboda is based in the Serbian community of Milwaukee, WI and has been entertaining dancers in the Midwest for over 20 years. They have a wide repertoire of Serbian and international songs that are both exciting and soulful. Help us welcome the band on their first visit to Tapestry Folkdance Center.

Saturday, October 1
Registration/Check-in on Saturday: 9:30 – 10 am
Workshop Session II: 10 am to noon
Potluck lunch and culture talk: noon to 2 pm
Workshop Session III: 2 – 4 pm
Dance Party with Live Music by Orkestar Sloboda: 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm
Sunday, October 2
Brunch: 10 – 11 am (open to all)
Workshop Session IV (reviews): 11 am to 2 pm
