Scholarship Fund Information
Purpose:
The Tapestry Folkdance Center Scholarship fund will help dancers and musicians enhance their skills to enrich the Tapestry Folkdance Center community.
Description:
The Scholarship Fund at Tapestry Folkdance Center supports Tapestry members who wish to attend local, regional, national, or international folk dance camps, workshops, lessons or special events. The fund is designed to help pay for attendance and/or travel that will expand or increase dance or music skills. Scholarships of up to $500 are awarded twice a year for activities during that calendar year.
The Scholarship Committee, composed of representatives from Tapestry dance communities, will review all applications and make awards. Scholarships may not be granted to the same candidate more than two times but there must be two years between applications. Priority will be given to individuals who have not received funding in the past. Preference will be given to someone who will be enriched by the experience, who will put into action what they learn, and who has a commitment to furthering Tapestry’s mission.
The Scholarship Committee reserves the right not to award scholarships if, in the opinion of the committee, none of the candidates meet the criteria. The amount of the award is at the discretion of the committee.
Award Criteria:
● Be a Tapestry member
○ If you are not currently a member, the scholarship will include membership
○ If you are currently a member, the scholarship will pay for a one year renewal
● Be an active member of a Tapestry Folkdance community for at least one year
● Be willing to submit the report form within one month following participation at the event.
● Show commitment to the Tapestry Folkdance community. Candidates who have been active and expect to remain in the area will be given preference over those who expect to be leaving the area within less than one year.
